Heritage Full of Heart
The WinShape Retreat campus has a long and beautiful history. Our stately French-inspired buildings were formerly used to house the student-run dairy enterprise of Berry College. In the 1930s, Martha Berry built the college with a heart for academia, but also for drawing students in to experience God’s beauty. After 70 thriving years, Berry College decided to move the dairy to its main campus and the Normandy complex was left vacant. Around this same time, Truett and Jeannette Cathy visited the property and felt as though it was the ideal location to grow the ministry of their WinShape Foundation. When the Cathy's first set foot on the property that would one day become WinShape Retreat, they felt they were standing on holy ground. Plans were made to transform the empty dairy barns into what would soon become WinShape Retreat.
